Qidi X-Max (X-Plus) Quick Change Extruder Carriages
thingiverse
I purchased the Qidi X-Max in December 2021 and these carriages fit models of this period. The bearings are 29mm L, 19mm O.D., 10mm I.D. Probably fits the X-Plus from the same period, but I cannot confirm this. My system was making unsettling noises when printing. I found that the Y-axis bars on my machine are spaced 69.5mm from center to center. The OEM carriage has a spacing of 70mm. This resulted in binding and significant resistance, especially when the carriage was closer to the sides. I assume that the bar design spacing is supposed to be 70mm. I also found the OEM carriage screw bosses that support the extruder where not the same height. This causes the nozzle to be at an angle which is definitely not desirable. Quick Change: With the OEM carriage it is a pain in the you know what to switch between the low temp to the high temp extruders. This design moves the belt clip to the side so that the carriage can be slipped between the belts and thus the extruder can remain attached. Only two screws need to be removed, both of which can be accessed from the top or via the door. Two Versions: Because the extruder remains attached, I was able to make a high temp and low temp version of the carriage. The high temp does not include the Fan Duct and allows for a slightly more robust design. Multiple Lengths: The uploaded files include bar spacings of 69.5mm, 70mm and 70.5mm. Measure near the sides with the carriage removed to determine your bar spacing. I have shared the carriage designs with Qidi so hopefully they will update new systems with the same (or better). I have included both STL and STEP files for each length and for both the high and low temp versions. I have also included Fusion 360 exports. The length is a parameter (currently set at 69.5mm).
