Qidi X-Max ribbon cable re-routing and carriage support

These clips are to hold the ribbon cable for the Qidi X-Max on the outside of the frame so it’s easier to change when the time comes. I’ve had to change the cable twice and unscrewing the panels, the back and base to route it through became a bit of a pain. With this method you just put the printer on it’s side take off the base and route the cable directly into the chamber via the gap at the back. I have also designed a clip to fit into the slot where cable originally came out of to hold the cable a little higher so it doesn’t droop as much. I’m using the V6/dragon modded carriage, if you use this with the original extruder carriage the cable may sit a little different but should work ok. I have included a bracket that fits onto the pillars to direct the cable backward so it stays off the rails. You’ll need to print the following and its best to fit in this order: If running the V6/Dragon carriage mod then fit the cable retainer and cable into it first, skip this step if you’re not. I’ve included a few options you could use: Cable retainer 2 pillar – Has the option of directing the cable straight back from the carriage or out the side but still clearing the rails Cable retainer back pillar – Cable straight out the back Cable retainer front pillar – Cable out the side 1 x Slot clip – Move the carriage to the front left and slide the ribbon cable into the curved slot so the prongs are facing you, asses the length of cable you need, twist it round and face the prongs towards the slot and the cable should run behind it and out to the right against the frame. It’s a very tight fit so you may need to file/sand it a bit. Only file the bottom prong as you need the top to retain its lip for grip. 1 x Slot clip front bracket – This will keep the cable directed straight out, slide it onto the cable and screw it in with a M3 12-14mm screw 1 x Top clip high tab – This is to help support the cable 1 x Top clip low tab – the low tab brings the cable in a downwards angle a bit which helps keep it tensioned in the slot clip 1 x Top clip no tab – As above 6 x Side clips – 5 on the side of the frame and 1 to the right of the stepper motor on the back right When feeding the cable from the base into the chamber be aware of the orientation it fits into the carriage so you don’t have to make any unnecessary twists. You’ll be able to take out any slack between clips once done.
