I thought the PLA had warped during printing but it turns out it just expanded enough to let go. I just finished a print using an abs glow material as it was the next level to try and limit the intensity of the light. I think that this might be as good as its going to get with regards to helping the light get to where it needs to without washing out the camera. It also glows blue when the lights shut off which is a pretty cool effect. Truthfully, I just wanted the light transmission properties glow filament has. The in person viewing is much better with the light diffused. It is much easier to see the print lines of the first layer and on with this mod. The LED lights tend to create shadows and can give you the impression that the edge of your layer is lifting. I am impressed with this mod and more than happy with the overall improvement it provides. I ened up using two sided carpet tape on the back of the lens and it made it through the second abs lens just fine. That was the PETG lens. I will try the PLA lens again with the tape and see how things go. PETG and ABS seem to work well. One thing I did learn is that you definitely do not need to heat the chamber to 65 for abs. I did not have the chamber temp on for the first half of the print and there were no issues. Previously... OK so I just had a bit of a fail but nothing huge. I just wanted to make sure others know ! I am printing the rear lens in ABS and had the chamber set to 65 C. The lens on the right side at the rear fell off. The issue seems to be the heater duct underneath it. I am going to design a shroud to guide the hot air past the lens. Just deciding on what filament to use. likely Carbon Fibre or something else that prints at a higher temp. I might try ABS or PETG. In short I would not use PLA for the lens, I will try both abs and PETG and see if either has the same issue before I design the add-on for the heater duct. It should be fine with two sided tape added and using a higher temp filament for the lens but I will update as I go. I designed these to help spread the light across the bed a bit better. Mostly to try and help the camera get a better pic. I might put some aluminum duct tape behind the diffuser to better direct the light across. I printed these in transparent PETG but will also be trying a translucent PLA to tone the light down a bit due to overexposure issues with the camera. I will include a picture of the camera view to show the difference these make. They are designed to clip onto the rail that sits in front of the light. The slot is designed .125mm smaller so it grabs onto the edge well without requiring adhesive.
