QIDI 3D X-Plus Spool Roller

QIDI 3D X-Plus Spool Roller

thingiverse

I designed this spool roller to clip onto my QIDI X-PLUS printer, where it replaces a built-in holder that I found created too much friction, especially when printing with TPU material, which caused frustrating voids. To solve this issue, I opted for a set of rollers with significantly lower rolling resistance, making it easy to attach and remove them as needed - for instance, if you need to secure the hood for ABS prints. If the bearings don't fit snugly onto the roller posts, simply heat them slightly to soften the metal. The fit doesn't have to be extremely tight because the built-in "roller locks" will keep the roller sides securely in place, preventing separation once they're on the printer. This design ensures that the rollers stay put either way. The spool roller is 170mm wide, providing ample space for two spools at once if you like to switch back and forth between them during a print job. This feature allows for efficient workflow and minimizes downtime. To assemble this spool roller, you'll need to print each side, the 2 x roller locks, and the 2 rollers. For added convenience, I've included a filament guide that helps keep the filament on the spool and prevents tangling when the spools are nearly full. Before you start printing, make sure to source 4 x 6088ZZ bearings to complete the assembly.
