I had an old Qi charging pad collecting dust for far too long, a relic from a bygone era when I bought it, only to be left high and dry as I upgraded phones that no longer supported wireless charging.\r\nA couple weeks back, I picked up a pair of wireless earbuds that charge using the Qi standard, leaving me wondering what to do with my old pad.\r\nI quickly grabbed my trusty charger, but realized it used Micro USB for power - a connector that's been all but abandoned in favor of the superior USB C.\r\nSo, I took matters into my own hands and started searching online for cheap breakout boards that would allow me to repurpose my old charging pad.\r\nI disassembled the pad and carefully extracted its electronics, then resoldered the power inputs to match up with the pins on the USB C board I had sourced.\r\nNext, I designed a simple case to house my newly assembled creation, effectively breathing new life into an old relic.\r\nThis solution may be tailored specifically to my needs, but perhaps it will spark some inspiration in others facing similar challenges.
