I found that printing it with optimal results required printing it on its side, just like in one of those pictures. To achieve this, I used Cura settings to print with grid support everywhere, all carefully aligned along a 2mm raft. In PLA, at a layer height of 0.2mm, everything worked flawlessly for me - the raft came off without a hitch and the support pieces detached easily as well. Now, I'm working on creating a 30-degree mount, which should be ideal for those speed enthusiasts!
