This stunning ceramic treasure was unearthed by the Maritime Archaeology Trust and Qatar Museums team during an excavation at a promising wreck site situated in Zubarah Bay, within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Al Zubarah, Qatar, back in January 2018. The object appears to be a casual, three-handled tableware vessel measuring just under 11 cm tall. It was discovered upside down adjacent to the neck of the preceding find F0003 at a maximum depth of 30 cm beneath the seabed. The Trust's divers found this ceramic after conducting a side scan sonar survey to pinpoint anomalies within the bay. This ceramic bears an uncanny resemblance to other finds from the area, with a cracked example currently on display at Al Zubarah fort. To learn more about Al Zubarah, simply click here. A 3D site plan showcasing the locations and positions of the as-found ceramics, including this find, will be released very soon. In addition to this ceramic, five other large vessels were recovered, collectively suggesting a potential wreck site. The scale is 10 cm.
