Q X7S battery lid
thingiverse
This is a battery modification for a Taranis Q X7S that replaces the Nimh 2000mah battery pack with two LG 3500mah LI-Ion batteries. Note: LG has some of the only "real" >2000mah Li-Ion batteries. I used a charger board and a 5.5x2.1mm panel mount charger plug. Update: The original STL back plate has been updated for a better fit. Search string for charger board: Intelligent Balance Charging Protection Board 2S Packs 18650 lithium Satellite. Search string for panel mount: 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC Power Jack Socket Female Panel Mount Connector plug. I printed it in ABS with supports due to the really small tabs that catch and hold the plate. The panel mount plug was 10.9mm, but due to the threads I made the hole for it 11.2mm which is still a tight fit but can still be screwed into the hole. A new STL file has been uploaded (*_v2.stl) that adds a 6.8mm hole for a short clear acrylic rod to be inserted in to act as a light pipe and show the state of the charger board LED's. You will want to order a 1/4" (around 6.67mm) acrylic rod, and cut a short length off (around 6mm in length). Polish the two cut ends with fine grit sandpaper and insert it into the hole. Note: You will want to print this with high density infill to make sure the tabs have enough strength (I used 50% infill).
