Q-Tip Box

Q-Tip Box

This was a simple box I created to replace an old plastic q-tip box I had that was starting to break. I created a simple model that gets wider at the top that can hold a lot of cotton swabs with a simple functional lid with a handle.

The model is printed using Prusa Clear PETG Prusament which had a unique “pearlescent” appearance. Additionally the choice of filament was intentional to tolerate a humid and damp bathroom environment.

This was printed with a brim for the bottom part and a brim and raft for the top cover part and supports for the top cover handle. The default layer and perimeter settings in Prusa Slicer and a gyroid infill was used. Both top and bottom can be printed on an MK3 in about 19 ½ hours on an MK3 using the 0.20 mm quality setting. Additionally the ironing setting was used (for the first time) to create a smooth appearance on the top of the cover and on the inside bottom of the case. The gyroid infill can be seen from the outside which creates an interesting design pattern for the box.

On thing to note is to be sure that your extruder is completely purged and clean of other colored filament as these will impact the clear filament with blemishes.
