Pórtico Ermita Nª Sra. de la Vega (Valderrueda)

The Hermitage of Our Lady of the Vega is situated in Valderrueda, León, on a land of meadows, alongside the Real Road of León. It's a simple construction from late Romanesque architecture with a single nave and flat head, built up in arenisca sillería stone blocks of irregular sizes and masonry. In 1981 it was subject to a restoration that transformed considerably the original appearance of the building. The thickness of the walls of the nave was enlarged using bricks faced and the joints of the exterior facades were marked with narrow bands of gray cement. The access to the interior of the temple is carried out through two portals opened in the southern and western walls of the nave. The modeling is the south one, formed by a slightly pointed arch that rests directly on the jambs. The head was also reformed replacing the old stone cornice with the current wooden eave. Three canecillos have been preserved on the southern side, with human heads of quite rough execution.
