Founded in 1591 by the Counts of Castelar and situated outside the wall of Alcalá de Henares, hence its nickname Convento de Afuera.\nIts work is attributed to Fray Alberto de la Madre de Dios, and its style is attributed to typical Madrid architecture of the XVII century.\nIn 1614 it came under the patronage of Beatriz de Diatrichstain, Marchioness of Mondéjar, hence we can see two escutcheons of Marqués Cardenal Diatrichstain on its facade.
