The ancient Greeks invented a clever trick known as the Pythagorean cup, which is essentially a vessel with a secret tube running right through its middle. Whenever you pour liquid into it, everything looks normal until the moment when the cup gets too full – at that exact instant, the excess spills out of a tiny hole at the very bottom, draining away all the excess liquid in a split second.
