Locality: Roșia Poieni, Romania\nFOV: ~8 mm\nFormula: FeS2\nDescription: I'm starting to explore macro photogrammetry and there's plenty of room for growth. The main crystal is approximately 4 mm long and it's a dodecahedron, also known as a pyritohedron. A pyritohedron is an isometric closed crystal form with 12 irregular pentagonal faces. It gets its name from pyrite, which typically has this crystal shape. Pyrite's shiny golden color led to it being called "Fool's gold", but the origin of the word pyrite comes from the Greek word for fire because sparks fly when it hits another mineral or metal.\nWebsite: http://geology.uaic.ro/muzee/mineralogie/\nConcept & 3D-modelling by dr.
