Pylon Hat Stand
thingiverse
Quite simply, this is a hat stand designed to resemble a pylon. Firstly, this model demonstrates just how impressive 3D printers are, by being able to create clean, useful, and relatively strong designed effortlessly. Although each column is weak alone, even a plastic pylon can hold a considerable amount of weight by the columns working together intelligently. This is also a great way to test a printer's bridging. I had no problems fully disabling supports and I would strongly recommend that others do the same. Although the first bridged layer may be shakey, it corrects pretty quickly. Quickly NB! - No rafts - My columns did not really stick to the raft as the contact area is so small, thus rafts are really unhelpful here. - A Brim is better. Even just 5 or 6, a brim is not just helpful but necessary. - Sizes can be changed. I found the uploaded sizes worked for me, but make it your own! - Probably go a little slowly. I left mine at 20m.S-1 with 0.24 Nozzle - No supports. They are pretty much impossible to remove without breaking model. Just not worth it.
