Pylon Container (Crystal/Barrel Dice Box)
thingiverse
Pylon was designed with Crystal Caste Barrel/Crystal dice in mind, specifically the dice from my set. Note that two versions are included, the pictured version which features magnets is scaled at 115%. The original size held a small D20 and the crystal dice except for the D20. The little hole is made so you can push up a normal D20 or other die to remove it without the dice just spinning around. It's what I ultimately settled on, and I recommend you experiment and modify it to find a solution that works best for you. With the small holes, the barrel D20 does stick out slightly if the scale is not raised enough for the D20 to fit inside of the container. Personally, I prefer using a normal D20 because it's easier to read and can rest inside of the container to show the roll. Instructions: I printed it at 115% scale to fit my larger D20s. Settings: ABS - Hotend: 225 C, Bed: 89 C Layer Height: .2 mm First Layer: .3 mm Perimeters: 2 Bottom Shells: 2 Top Shells: 3 I set the Solid Infill Threshold Area to 5mm^2 in Slic3r 1.2.9 so it wouldn't overdue on the inner walls. You will need two pieces, as this model is symmetrical. After printing, you'll want a way to keep it together. I used magnets, but another option was to notch opposing sides and use a tied ribbon or elastic band to hold it closed. I drilled out holes for the magnets and used glue to secure them in place. If you plan to do this, I recommend using a higher infill/3D infill to give the glue some anchoring points within the part.
