Pygmy Cup (Early Bronze Age) Bolton Museum and Library Archaeology Collection Low-fired hermisperical cup with incised decoration on exterior walls, rim, and base, featuring crossing and zig-zag lines that imitate basketwork. The piece was discovered during the construction of the Corporation Housing estate on Breightmet Hill in May 1955. A letter to the Borough Engineer at the time revealed that it rolled out of a spoil heap on Bank Tonge Moor Road and was spotted by a bulldozer driver.
