Since I'm not looking forward to sweltering summers with scarce rainfall as an inherently laid-back person, I created a simple watering system for my garden. With leftover 20mm PVC piping from building my hoop house, I repurposed it by remixing a Gardena fitting, crafting a plug, and designing a tool to draw straight lines on the pipe. Here's a link to see it in action: https://youtu.be/i0mQIN7g-Pw As PVC pipes are readily available and affordable, this method allows you to create numerous watering systems. You can purchase 90-degree angles and transform them into squares for your raised beds or bend them into circles around trees or bushes. The possibilities are endless! Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Mono Mendel Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 80 Notes: I printed it with 100% infill, but I believe 80% or even lower might work. Using a cooling fan eliminates the need for supports. Post-Printing: Step 1: Secure your length of 20mm PVC in place using some means, then employ the tool and a pen to draw a straight line on the pipe. Utilize a measuring tape to mark each 100mm, for instance. Step 2: Drill holes at each mark; I used a 1.5mm drill, but you can use a slightly larger one depending on your water pressure and the number of holes. Step 3: Attach the coupler and plug to each end using silicone, glue gun, epoxy, or any other available adhesive. Step 4: Connect the water hose and let it flow. Now you can enjoy a refreshing drink instead of carrying water all day!
