PVC supported crossbow
thingiverse
A mostly 3D printed and PVC pipe supported crossbow is created. The design is based on a classical medieval crossbow, adapted for printing. This is a proof of concept design meant to be pinned to the wall. Additional requirements include: three 400x20mm light grey PVC pipes rated for 10bar for support and one 800x20mm dark grey PVC pipe rated for 16bar for the bow. A few cm of 2.85mm filament or metal pins are also needed. To create the bow, search online for "PVC Archery". Please be aware that this is a toy and should not be used for real shooting as you may harm yourself and others. It requires a long print time due to high infill settings which took multiple days to complete. Updates: - A smaller PipeGuideFix-v2 was added to simplify bow connection - A Rubberband-Fix was added that can be glued on, holding the rubber band in place when pulling the trigger forward. This modification allows for changing the rubber band without disassembling the crossbow. To install this feature, push the rubber band through a hole and insert a 30mm piece of filament to hold it in place. Print Settings: - Printer Brand: Ultimaker - Printer Model: Ultimaker 2 - Rafts: No - Supports: No - Resolution: 0.4mm nozzle at 0.1mm layers - Infill: High infill settings were used Notes: - Only the trigger and maybe the trigger roll need support. Two versions are available, one with support and one without. - For the BotGuide as well as for the TopGuideShort, slightly longer and shorter versions are available to address PVC-Pipe length issues. - Multiple versions of the bow clip are also available to fit different sizes of bows. - All other objects can be rotated to print with a maximum overhang of 45° or small bridges smaller than 1cm. Post-Printing: Glue all connections to provide more stability.
