PVC Pipe Pivot/Swivel Joint
thingiverse
I wanted to create a set of cosplay wings using 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC piping, not the thin stuff found in Schedule 20. I needed a swivel that would allow PVC piping to pivot smoothly at specific joints so the wings could spread open or fold down fully, but I couldn't find one that fit my budget. So, I came up with a solution. To make it work, you glue the bottom part into the hole - using regular PVC glue is fine. The bottom part has slots to allow for some flexibility when it's being pushed in, which helps with irregularities caused by lower print settings. This setup includes two swivels: a center one and a side one. You can bolt them together to create up to three swivels, keeping the PVC nicely centered. For larger pipes, just scale up your slicer program accordingly - keep in mind that the hole for bolting will also increase. I might make custom ones for other sizes in the future. Using a metal or nylon washer between where they touch can help things move smoothly. Enjoy!
