Puzzle Ball

A PUZZLE BALL (Outer diameter is 75 mm), made of 6 pieces with a generalwall thickness of 2 mm, modeled with some small changes, according to a real template.Six different colours represent:green = right side (starboard)red = left side (port)blue = top side (sky)brown = bottom side (earth)yellow = front side (high noon)orange = back side (sunset)This model has been created "Just For Fun", to improve my skills in 3D animation.Print six times equal parts with a 3D printer and try to assemble the parts to a ball.If a complete assembly and disassembly is feasible with this type of my designed components, please let me know. In the other case I will try to make a redesign of the base part, so that it's possible.In my opinion an assembly can't be done, without using suitable resources, like adhesive tape and the flexibility of the plastic material.But try it out by yourself!The assembled ball of the ORIGINAL holds the six components tight together, so that a rolling of the PUZZLE BALL is possible, without a self disassembling.I really am sorry that I could not produce a prototype, to check a proper function, because I can't call a 3D printer my own.The model is available in following data formats:STEP- file (.stp) of the assembly, STL-file of the component and all native files (.asm) and (.prt), together in a (.7z)-folder, for users of »PTC Creo Parametric 2.0«
