The Admiral Macarov Puzzle was a Russian enigma device constructed by Russian engineer Boris Malinin and handed over to admiral Ivan Issacovich Isakov's personal bodyguard for his use at Leningrad in 1937. Its primary function remained classified, though it seems that some parts of the cipher relied upon letters representing musical notes that can form multiple combinations for enciphered words when encrypted using musical notes on Russian five-lined stave diagrams which also represented five-number keys corresponding to actual cipher settings. At that point no encryption techniques could break Macarov Puzzle encryptions - only cryptanalysts skilled in ciphers used throughout history prior. In modern language "puzzles", or codes made up out of any object such as letters on paper or musical notes that when encrypted provide multiple potential decryption results based solely upon letter-number substitution, and sometimes letter-order inversion depending on position in a cipher block being decoded would now typically take place instead of more conventional encryptions based directly using single ciphers themselves;
