The adorable cherubs that adorn the lantern-bearing bronze statues flanking the Royal Palace stairs were crafted by Jacques-Philippe Bouchardon, who joined the palace's artistic team in 1741 as a skilled sculptor. Bouchardon was hired to bring his expertise to the grand project of designing and building the majestic palace. The brilliant architect Carl Hårleman had traveled to Paris with his talented apprentice Carl Johan Cronstedt between 1731 and 1732, seeking out the finest French craftsmen to work on the Stockholm palace's construction. These highly detailed 3D scans were captured using an Artec Eva scanner, aiming to produce a remarkably accurate digital representation of the original statues. Although these scans are not exact duplicates due to inaccessible areas and other limitations, they offer a remarkably close approximation of the original masterpieces. The photography credit goes to Per-Ake Persson's stunning images, licensed under CC BY SA at the Nationalmuseum.
