Push-pull knob system for model railway points/switchs/turnouts

I was in search of an easy system to move my points without reaching onto the layout scenery (previous bad experience). I saw the piano wire method, but didn't want to buy anything. I had some 1.5mm Stainless steel wire laying around (fits perfectly into the hornby point i got), it's a bit flexible(more than i want to) but so far it's working nicely. You just have to pass the wire all the way through the handle and either glue it or if you have a 3d filament pen, plaster pla all over it. (make sure the wire is tight before gluing/pla-ing) Make sure you drill nice holes under the point for it though (6mm for OO/HO is bang on) It might be a bit squeaky, so maybe using some pla-friendly lube perhaps (didn't try so far).
