Push N Turn Fastener
grabcad
The rivet functions as a fastening tool for joining two plates together. Its ease of use is notable, requiring simply insertion through plate holes and rotation of the center part with a screwdriver, hence its name "push n turn." Unlocking involves reversing the center piece's rotation. This specific fastener must be produced using additive manufacturing due to interconnected parts that cannot be disassembled or reassembled without causing damage. In operation, rotating the threaded center shaft (2) causes the piston (3) to slide downward, expanding the body walls (1) and locking the plates in place. To release the fastener, the shaft (2) must be rotated in reverse direction, allowing the piston (3) to retract and the body (1) walls to return to their original position.
