Purge Pan

Purge Pan

thingiverse

I created this design specifically for my Mendel90 printer, but anyone can use it. There are times when I want to clear out old filament and introduce new filament through the extruder without worrying about the extruded filament sticking to the heated glass bed. I came up with the concept of a purge pan based on devices we commonly use at work where I work with plastic injection molding. The idea is simple - place this purge pan on your print bed and purge the old filament along with the new filament into the purge pan instead of letting it stick to the heated print bed. The compact design of the purge pan ensures that it doesn't get stuck to the heated print bed. I printed mine upside down, which explains the rough appearance inside the bowl, but its purpose is just to collect purged and wasted plastic, so it doesn't need to be visually appealing. Print Settings: Printer: Rafts: Not Required Supports: Not Required Resolution: 0.1mm Notes: I didn't print mine with supports because they wouldn't affect the end result, but supports would have helped make the pan look better. I designed this in Solidworks
