Players take on the roles of four riders of the apocalypse as they clash with armies of medieval knights, archers, and clerics in a battle for control of purgatory, the fiery realm between heaven and hell. The game's environment is designed around three concentric circles: the central circle, a blazing inferno that serves as the entrance to hell; the upper circle, inspired by the divine realms of heaven; and the middle circle, a liminal space where the two opposing forces meet. Players must defend the gates of hell while working towards their ultimate goal of breaching the gates of heaven. As they triumph over waves of enemies, players can spend their accumulated souls on powerful upgrades to enhance their abilities.
