Purenity / TecTake XL / VIVO Camping Bed / Cot peg repair part
thingiverse
I recently purchased these camping beds on Amazon. They're available under various brand names, including VIVO and Purenity. I bought four beds for my kids, each weighing less than 70 pounds. However, I was aware of potential issues based on customer reviews. The beds claim to support up to 300 pounds, but this is not accurate. Three out of the four beds broke after initial use due to a faulty design. The problem lies in the cross brace mounting system. To make it easier to assemble, the bars clip onto pegs protruding from the side rails. Unfortunately, these pegs are made of soft plastic. When a child weighing 25 kilograms sat on one of the bars, it instantly sheared off the peg. I've included pictures above to illustrate this issue. To prevent further damage and make the beds usable, I created a solution. You'll need an additional 13mm domed nut for each bed. This will give you four nuts and four parts per bed. The metal hat of the nut forms a sturdy peg that can't be easily sheared off. One final warning: Don't buy these beds if you weigh more than 150 pounds. Their aluminum profiles are only 1.2mm thick, making them prone to damage when sat upon with full weight, especially if not centered on the fabric. Since they're riveted, repairs can be extremely challenging.
