Puppet for artist - Kolya the Horse
thingiverse
I'd love to share with you the story of how my daughter and I created a model of a horse named Kolya. Kids often struggle with their schoolwork, but mine is no exception - she hates doing her homework as much as any other kid does. One day, while she was stuck on a particularly boring assignment, she started doodling on a piece of paper, drawing a horse surrounded by various objects in different situations. I'm always happy to support my daughter's creative endeavors, so I joined in and helped bring her imagination to life. Together, we came up with all sorts of scenarios for this horse, and before long, I had an idea - why not create a puppet with movable limbs that she could use to draw the horse in different poses? It would be just like the puppets artists use to sketch human figures. This project turned out to be a great way to teach my child about all the stages involved in creating a puppet, from conception and design to finished product. I decided to build it using Tinkercad because it's designed for kids (just like Minecraft and LEGO) and has tons of pre-made parts that make it easy to get started. After hours of collaborative modeling, we finally had a pretty decent horse - Kolya, as she's come to be known. Don't ask me why I chose that name; I don't know myself! We printed the model using an UP mini 2 printer with ABS plastic from ESUN in white. The print settings were as follows: * For all parts except the body: layer height of 0.15, fill rate of 99%, and low speed. * For the body: layer height of 0.20, fill rate of 20%, and high speed. Through this process, my child learned what it means to bring ideas from a two-dimensional plane into our three-dimensional world. She also gained motivation to continue developing her artistic skills, all thanks to Kolya the horse. We've lost count of how many prints we've had to do - at least two!
