Punalu‘u Heiau 3 - North Side

sketchfab

This model shows the northern part of the site. You can see from the cross-section that the heiau was built on a significant slope. A line of trees follows the division between the northern and central sections. The trees have been digitally removed, but you can see their locations where they once stood in the form of remaining stumps. The walls to the north and west have collapsed, but small intact sections of facing remain visible. The eastern face has completely given way. A small cave is located beneath the largest boulder. This model of Punalu‘u Heiau 3 on O‘ahu was created as part of Kamehameha Schools' Wahi Kūpuna 3D Mapping Project. This initiative was developed to provide educational and community resources, giving virtual access to wahi kūpuna (ancestral sites) to preserve traditions of our ancestors.
