Pulley demo using filament as bearing
thingiverse
By browsing Thingiverse, it is apparent that many users incorporate nuts, bolts, and other components in their designs. However, a significant portion of external hardware can be substituted with filament itself. This demo piece demonstrates its effectiveness as a bearing and shows how it can be welded using an extruder. When printing parts using a PrinterBot, remember that 4mm holes may reduce to 3mm in the finished product, so adjust accordingly. Follow the assembly instructions provided in this YouTube video: http://youtu.be/E5XLjEbcVVQ. For more information about my design, visit www.trenchPhysics.com.
