Pulley

Pulley

thingiverse

One Sunday morning I was bored. So I designed a pulley. I started out trying to design this to print in place, but that design constraint was going to make the eye awkward. I did figure out ways to do it, but I was not happy with it. I love PLA rivets, and multipart prints will print faster and more reliably. So I redesigned this to print in multiple parts, fast, with no support. I use 1.75mm raw PLA to rivet the parts together. If you are not familiar, this is a process where you use a lighter to melt the ends of the PAL pin, then a flat piece of metal (I use the face of a hammer) to squish (rivet) the material down. No glue. Some interesting design details: Making this multi part allowed me to better control the tolerances for the part. So if a printer prints a terrible first layer, this pulley should still work fine.
