Pull String Helicopter

Pull String Helicopter

thingiverse

A pull-string helicopter with good flight performance is simple to assemble, requiring ABS material for optimal part durability. SolidWorks 2011 source files are available; however, blade profiles need improvement. Upload your updated designs! For instructions, refer to the provided images to understand proper blade orientation. Print all parts and the propeller with desired blade numbers (tested up to 5 blades). Print in ABS using specific settings and orientation for optimal results without support. Cut a 3.5 ft string with 2 in loops at both ends; use thin, strong material like 150 lb test spectra fishing line. Secure a 3 in x 0.25 in rubber band through the spool and handle, attach strings to the spool and pull. Slide the propeller onto the spool with tapered side facing it, wind string on the spool, and secure with a twisted plate. Oil the spool for smooth operation, and enjoy flying without breaking too many parts!
