Pull-Pin Switches for High Power Rocketry
thingiverse
These pull-pin switches consist of a 3D printed switch housing with a 2mm pull-pin and Omron SS-5 switches. When you wire up the switches outside pins between the positive leads of your battery and your avionics, they can be used to switch the avionics on by simply pulling the pin out, with the batteries being disconnected while the pin is in place. Files are included for 1, 2, 3, and 4 switch versions of the housing and I recommend printing them 100% infill out of PETG, but they will work in PLA also. The housing and switches fit 2-56 size screws, and I use 2mm stainless steel rod to make pull pins, but you could use carbon fiber or really any other 2mm rods as well. Stainless just tends to slide the easiest. The pull-pin ends included can be used to attach the "remove before flight" tag of your choosing, and they can be found places like eBay and Amazon. The SS-5 datasheet says the switches are rated for 100G of shock loading, and I would personally only recommend using these switches with rocketry electronics that utilize a brownout capacitor, just in case there are any extreme G-load events mid-flight that could cause the switches internal connections to bounce.
