Pug Keychain

Pug Keychain

My girlfriend is a huge dog lover, especially pugs, so I decided to create a unique keychain for her. I browsed through Thingiverse and stumbled upon a fantastic design by niftymaker that caught my eye. The first time I printed the design, I encountered issues with the intricate details in the center. However, after investigating, I realized it was likely due to a misaligned heated bed. Once I corrected this, the print turned out perfectly. Nonetheless, I still wasn't satisfied. I discovered that the small features of the pug's mouth and nose were thin and prone to getting stuck in clothing or scarves. The last thing I wanted was for my girlfriend to lose or damage her new keychain. To address this concern, I made some adjustments to the design. I added a solid base underneath niftymaker's original work, giving it more stability and preventing the delicate features from becoming detached. To make the keychain stand out, I decided to print it in two distinct colors: Black PLA for the base/background and White PLA for the pug section. To create this visually appealing effect, I designed a 2mm tall base and a corresponding 2mm tall pug section. The print process involved printing the first 10 layers with Black PLA, pausing to swap out the filament for White PLA, and then resuming the print. The result was truly fantastic!
