Puerto Rico Terrain
thingiverse
Downloaded DEM data for Puerto Rico from USGS site, converted it into a high-quality jpeg raster using VTBuilder with precision and care. Loaded the resulting image into Blender and skillfully applied it as a displace modifier onto a precise plane. Conducted meticulous cleaning up operations, including smoothing, shrinkwrapping, deleting isolated sections, and other fine-tuning tasks. Successfully printed the model using PLA, which required extensive sanding to achieve perfection. Applied vibrant colors through painting, bringing the intricate design to life. This is my first contribution to Thingiverse, a significant milestone in my 3D printing journey. Notably, the file size is quite large, so I'm considering decimating it if time permits. Print Settings: Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 25 Notes: I printed this model at a deliberate pace, carefully controlling the speed to 20 mm/s for optimal results.
