Puerta de Recoletos de Madrid
sketchfab
The Recoletos Gate was an entrance in the northern section of Madrid's wall. It stood at Recoletos Boulevard, directly across from the north side of the National Library of Spain building. Built in 1756, when the Salesas wall was raised on order of King Fernando VI, with designs by Don Francisco Carlier and under direction of Don Francisco Moradillo. The gate construction consisted of Colmenar stone for ornamentation and granite for the rest of the structure. Its closure was carried out using grilles that disappeared in 1826. In 1863, the gate was disassembled and its remaining stone fragments were used in other municipal projects.
