Puente Romano de Espiel
sketchfab
The well-known Roman Bridge in Espiel was built, according to documentation available at the town hall, in 1731, possibly on top of an even older one. It has approximately 50 meters in length and crosses the Guadiato River about 50 kilometers from its source and about 70 kilometers from its mouth. It is constructed by taking advantage of a natural narrowing of the channel caused by the slopes of the Sierra del Castillo and the Cerro del Gallo hill. The Puente Nuevo Dam, built in the 1960s, completely submerges it when it is at full capacity.
