The Guadalimar River Bridge was built with blueprints from the renowned Renaissance architect Andrés de Vandelvira and funded by Bishop Diego de los Cobos y Molina of Jaén, as it served as the primary route for communication between Úbeda and the highlands. This bridge is considered one of the most beautiful and significant engineering feats by this illustrious architect. It belongs to the category of grand-span arch bridges built during that era in northern Andalusia. The structure's construction features sandstone sills with five barrel vaults, surpassing 31 meters in length, and a double spiral entrance. Since 1998, following the completion of Giribaile Dam, it has been out of use for traffic and submerged underwater. However, due to drought, it has resurfaced once again.
