Creating this piece was an enormous challenge, with most references drawn from James Puckle's original patent submission for this revolutionary firearm. Forgive some artistic license, as I've attempted to recreate this iconic weapon with unwavering accuracy to its historical roots. I'm extremely proud of the result and hope you'll thoroughly enjoy it! The Puckle gun, also known as the defense gun, was a pioneering crew-served, manually-operated flintlock revolver patented in 1718 by James Puckle, a visionary British inventor, lawyer, and writer. It's one of the earliest firearms to be referred to as a "machine gun," earning that distinction in a 1722 shipping manifest, although its operation doesn't align with modern standards. Despite its groundbreaking design, this innovative firearm never saw combat or war action. Production was extremely limited, potentially yielding only two guns. As an trailblazing innovator of his time, James Puckle's work on the Puckle gun showcased concepts that were ahead of their time by decades.
