PublicLaboratory Mobile Spectrometer v3.1
thingiverse
A 3D printable version of the Public Lab Spectrometer 3.0 by Brad Dudenhoffer is available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:49934. The 3.0 model prints better than its predecessors. Print three parts (base, body with or without logo), attach a film grating to the mount plate's upper side, insert it into the two sides, and screw them together using 0-42 1/4" screws or glue/acetone if you are using ABS. Mount the spectrometer on your phone and use spectralworkbench.org for calibration, saving, and sharing spectra. An iOS app is in development but its release date isn't certain yet. All parts have been NetFabbed and verified. The grating used in the prototype is a linear style with 1000 lines per mm (tinyurl.com/9tjrz8r). Alternatively, you can use film from a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray as demonstrated here: publiclaboratory.org/tool/spectrometer. It's licensed under CERN OHL v1.1 with contributions from Public Lab members.
