A PU style quick release plate for telescope lens without tripod ring like Tamron SP AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di VC USD Canon EF Telephoto Zoom 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6 IS II USM Mounting tripod direct under the camera with these lenses tends to nod and requires a lot of force to lock the head. For some high end camera you can just use a long plate too solve this problem, but for entry level camera like my Canon 760D the larger diameter of the lens goes beyond the bottom of my camera, so a mount plate needs to extend downward first then extend forward, so I made this mount plate. This plate also works with shorter lens too, just lock back a little bit. Notice it is not recommend to use this mount for heavy lens, if the plate breaks your lens will be damaged. Those kind of lenses always came with tripod ring mount, buy that ring , or just print one. BOM: - printed part - 1/4"-20x17mm tripod screw x1 - m3x5 screw x2 for slip limit - anti slip tape (at least 1mm thick, the slot is 0.5mm deep) or VHB tape for better grip, if use VHB tape make sure it will not permanently stick to the camera first, i just put my finger on the adhesive several times.
