Ptolemy of Mauretania at The Louvre, Paris
myminifactory
Ptolemy of Mauretania was a Roman client king who ruled over Mauretania for Rome from 13 BC/9 BC until his death in 40 AD. A stunning marble sculpture, crafted by an unknown artist between 30-40 BC AD, captures the King's image with remarkable detail and energy. The artwork's style is characteristic of the vibrant, animated depictions found in North Africa during Egypt's Hellenistic period. Its realism echoes the representations typical of the Roman Imperial era. This artifact is part of "Scan The World," a pioneering non-profit project initiated by MyMiniFactory.
