• What does its name mean? \nThe name Pteranodon means "wing without teeth." \n• When and who discovered it?\nThis prehistoric reptile was the first pterosaur discovered outside of Europe. Its fossils were originally found by Othniel Charles Marsh around 1870, in the late Cretaceous deposits of Smoky Hill Chalk located west of Kansas.\n• What size did it have and how was it?\nPteranodon was a prehistoric reptile, but not a dinosaur. By definition, all dinosaurs belong to the groups Saurischia and Ornithischia, of which pterosaurs do not form part. Adult specimens of Pteranodon can be divided into two classes according to their size.It could weigh up to 40 kilograms and measure 1.5 meters high and 3 meters long.\n• How long did it live?\nThis flying reptile lived about 75 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period.
