Specifications: Displacement 25 tons. Length 58 feet. Beam 18 feet. Armament: Two torpedoes, two .50 caliber machine guns and two depth charge racks. Propulsion: Two 1,350 horsepower Packard gasoline engines, two shafts. Laid down on August 1, 1939 as PT-3 by the Fisher Boat Works in Detroit, Michigan. Launched on April 18, 1940. Completed on June 20, 1940. Placed in service on July 24, 1940 and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron ONE (PTRon 1) for evaluations.
