Human: Psyche, a massive asteroid designated as minor planet number 16, holds a prominent position among the ten largest asteroids in the asteroid belt. Measuring over 200 km in diameter, this enormous object accounts for approximately 1% of the total mass of the entire asteroid belt. Scientists believe it to be an exposed iron core that was once part of a protoplanet, and is, indeed, the most massive metallic M-type asteroid known. On March 17, 1852, Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis first discovered Psyche from Naples, naming it after the Greek mythological figure Psyche. The numerical prefix "16" signifies its status as the sixteenth minor planet to be discovered.
