PSR B0329+54
thingiverse
Inspired by the iconic cover of Joy Division's album Unknown Pleasures, this stunning visual representation showcases 86 individual pulses, equivalent to approximately 61 seconds of data, captured on August 29, 2014 using the NRAO/Skynet 20m telescope. The pulsar B0329+54 rotates at an incredible rate of every 0.71 seconds and is situated roughly 3500 light-years away within the constellation Camelopardalis. A remarkable 3D printed model of this pulsar was created by Dawn Erb, offering a unique visual representation of this celestial phenomenon. Designing This Model To bring this pulsar to life, I employed the stl_tools package to convert the folded pulsar data into a three-dimensional model. With assistance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Rapid Prototyping Lab, the model was expertly printed, resulting in an accurate and visually striking representation of B0329+54.
