PSP D-PAD D Pad direction cross 1000 series (phat)

Sick to death of the lousy D-pad the original PSP has (1000 series/Phat). I'm fed up with its subpar performance. Saw this mod on a forum from a few years back, where someone used a SNES D-Pad in the PSP. The idea sparked something inside me and I decided I had to work one up using Fusion360. After several revisions, here we are. Print in PLA (or ABS if you can maintain the dimensions without warping). This project will require some minor trimming with side cutters - mainly the thin edges around the cross tips. To begin, remove the faceplate: take out the battery and memory stick, one screw from the lower edge of the chrome trim, two black screws behind the D-pad area, and two black and two silver screws under the battery (you'll need to remove the warranty sticker). The faceplate comes off easily once you've carefully pulled it away from the screen. Next, remove the rubber membrane with care, then take out the old crappy D-Pad. You'll need to cut the PSP case - essentially cut along the cross shape, removing the middle area. It's obvious where to make the cuts, so use a sharp craft knife or scalpel and go slow. Make a cut on both the front and rear faces of the case until the piece comes out. File any rough edges and you'll be done. Fit the new D-pad carefully, checking for areas where it touches the surround. Trim these areas from the new D-pad with a knife or side cutters. Then, give the D-pad a little sanding to keep its surfaces smooth. This should only take a couple of minutes. Finally, fit the new D-pad, clean any dust from the screen/cover, and replace the faceplate. Reassemble everything and you're done! Test all the buttons to make sure they still work properly. You'll be amazed at how much easier it is to play games like Street Fighter with this new D-Pad.
