The current standard issue 4×24 Russian-made telescopic sight is called the PSO-1M2. A front-facing view of the PSO-1M2 designation shows it as a modern optic in production. An image viewed through a PSO-1 scope mounted on an SVD rifle reveals the clarity of this optical system. The PSO-1, which translates to "Optical Sniper Sight," is made by the Russian manufacturer NPZ Optics State Plant and comes standard with the Russian military Dragunov sniper rifle. As the most technologically advanced telescopic sight designed for a mass-production designated marksman or sniper rifle in 1964, the PSO-1 remains unmatched to this day, leading many in its class as an iconic model.
