PSMD (Pololu Stepper Motor Driver) Triple Axis Remix
thingiverse
In search of the perfect cupcake, I stumbled upon tinkerings' hybrid Pololu/MakerBot stepper driver. Though impressive, I felt that its trace routing could be improved with larger traces and tighter tolerances, and desired more power. My revisions included rerouting the board, elevating components to the top layer for easier dip switch adjustments, changing surface mount parts to 0805, adding an ATX-4 connector, and reducing endstop connections. The resulting driver is slightly larger than MakerBot's but offers improved tidiness and functionality. The board has been tested and approved by monkeys, with a total approximate cost of $75 for parts and PCB. To assemble, procure the PCB from BatchPCB or another vendor, order parts from Mouser, and acquire Pololu drivers and headers. Follow instructions to solder components, ensuring correct driver orientation, and connect 12V power from your supply's four-pin molex connector. Once assembled, use tinkerin.gs' machines.xml file with 1/16th step Pololu Driver settings. Adjust current trimpots for optimal motor performance without overheating drivers. Enjoy your improved cupcake and happy printing!
