Pseudotachylite 7
sketchfab
Pseudotachylytes are extremely fine-grained to glassy rocks that originate from high-temperature melts of igneous origin. These types of rocks were first discovered by the Scottish geologist James Hutton, who documented them in 1788 during an expedition on the island of Arran in Scotland. Pseudotachylytes form through a process known as shock melting, which occurs when two or more tectonic plates collide and release enormous amounts of heat.
